56° 24’ 30.5” north.

The westernmost point of the UK is Rockall. Excluding Rockall, it is Gob a’ Ghaill, Soay, St Kilda, Western Isles. On the mainland it is Corrachadh Mor, Ardnamurchan at approximately ETRS89 6 degrees 13 minutes 40.59731 seconds West. Land’s End is at approximately ETRS89 5 degrees 43 minutes 01.55270 seconds west. In longitude at the latitude of Land’s End, Corrachadh Mor is approximately 36.566 kilometres or 22.721 miles further west than Land’s End. The Isles of Scilly are further west than Land’s End. Therefore Land’s End is the westernmost point of mainland England.

Hi Neil, Yes, I should have clarified that in in Devon you put the clotted cream first and then the jam on top, whereas in Cornwall the “proper Cornish” way is to spread the jam first and then the clotted cream as its crowning glory! I actually discussed this with Tony before writing the post and we both like jam first as the jam on top gets a little messy. But next time we’re in Devon, I’ll make sure the clotted cream goes on first.
I would love to hear your opinion as to whether the Primrose Cottage in Lustleigh is still the best Cream Tea, and, as an authority on Cream Teas, what other places you would recommend.

Helen thanks for sharing this list very useful as I head to Devon in a few weeks. From past experience Primrose Cottage in Lustleigh is definitely the best Cream Tea I have ever had but I hear they have new owners so I will have to see. One thing I would take issue with though is your description which suggests that you put the jam on first!!! You absolutely have to put the clotted cream on first for it to be considered a Devon Cream Tea as shown in your picture! Having lived in Devon for 19 years I consider myself to be somewhat of an authority on Cream Teas

We went there while the Alice set was still on. It was a lovely experience. The property is amazing and well maintained by National Trust. If you are visiting Devon/Cornwall, then do go here.

Devon and Cornwall regions are often considered one of the less developed railway regions of Britain, but the ultimate joy it brings when travelling on line is great. Last summer I planned rail holidays trip to Cornwall and it was a memorable experience.

Looked up pictures on this and have to agree that this could be a really enjoyable. I have been around Devon area and the beauty is unquestionable! It’s just amazing!
