Music in Venice: Concerts and Opera
A commented selection of concert and opera links to Venice orchestras and theatres. Antonio Vivaldi, who lived in Venice for many years, composed over 60 works there and the city is also the place where many famous italian operas, especially by Verdi, had their premières:
- The Return of Ulysses to his Homeland (Monteverdi, 1640) Teatro S. Cassiano
- The Coronation of Poppaea (Monteverdi, 1642) Teatro SS. Giovanni e Paolo
- Agrippina (Handel, 26.12.1709) Teatru S. Giovanni Grisostomo
- Tancredi (Rossini, 6.2.1813) Teatro La Fenice
- Ernani (Verdi, 9.3.1844) Teatro La Fenice
- Attila (Verdi, 17.3.1846) Teatro La Fenice
- Rigoletto (Verdi, 11.3.1881) Teatro La Fenice
- La Traviata (Verdi, 6.3.1853) Teatro La Fenice
- Simon Boccanegra (Verdi, 12.4.1847) Teatro La Fenice
