Venice Hotel Accommodation Guide
You can get anywhere in Venice by foot or Vaporetto pretty quickly. So apart from getting your luggage to and from your hotel on arrival and departure (see our Arriving and Departing page) distances are not a huge deal. Venice itself is divided into the following districts (called "sestieri"): San Marco, Dorsoduro, San Polo, Santa Croce, Cannaregio, Castello. But you can also stay on the Lido, just a short ferry ride away from Piazza San Marco across the lagoon. Giudecca is an island close to Dorsoduro, but you probably won't be staying there unless you're at the Hotel Cipriani, in which case I'm envious!
