Cascais

Cascais has been a popular beach resort for over a century and was once the favoured summer destination of Europe's aristocracy. When King Dom Luis I built his summer residence here in 1870, many of the nobles and wealthy followed suit and built palaces and extravagant vilas along the Cascais coastline.

So although the beaches continue to be one of Cascais’ greatest attractions, the town has a rich architectural heritage.
