Priapos is the protector of the countryside, gardens and vineyards
According to legend, Priapos is the son of Dionysos and Aphrodite and he is also the god of Lampsakos which is modern day Lapseki. His exaggerated phallus is the symbol of fertility and the abundance he provides.
Priapos was considered to be the guiding divinity of beekeepers and fishermen. Seafarers would attach statues of Priapos to the prows of their boats and in storms they hope for his assistance.
