Hagia Sophia is the legacy of both Christian and Muslim cultures and inside Hagia Sophia we see a magnificent blend of Byzantine and Ottoman architecture and church-mosque features and decorations. When Turkey became a secular republic in 1935, Hagia Sophia was turned into a museum - the Ayasofya Müzesi.
