We’ve come in search of the Northern Lights but what we’re seeing on our Hurtigruten Norwegian cruise is the stunningly beautiful coastline of Norway and the towns along it.

Mother Nature it seems loves Norway and has graced this country with all the beautiful features that’s possible to bless a country with. It has an endless coastline, fjords that are amongst the most magnificent in the world, mountains, glaciers, national parks, wildlife, fish and oil.

This Land of the Midnight Sun also enjoys a spectacular phenomenon, the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis.  And if we’re lucky, we may just get to see these magical light displays in the wintry night skies.

Our 13 days Hurtigruten Norwegian Coastal Voyage sets off from Bergen and we head north to Kirkenes, the northern most town close to the Russian border, before the ship turns around for its southern voyage.

On this coastal voyage we tag along on Hurtigruten’s mail and cargo run, making 34 stops in each direction of the journey.  The stops give passengers the opportunity to visit some of Norway’s coastal towns and attractions.
