Dijon – Country Roads of France

Follow the owl (chouette) walk around town, small arrows and owl motifs in the pavement lead you from place to place. Stroke the tiny owl on the side of the Notre Dame church for good luck and to ensure you will return! We started at the Sofitel Hotel La Cloche but the owl trail ends at the Duke of Burgundy’s Palace. It’s possible to climb the Duke’s Tower (free when we were there but at specified times) for a great view over the city.

The moutarde shop on the main drag sells the famous Maille Dijon mustard, but it’s the same jar you can buy in Sydney and San Diego – although they do make a lot of herbal flavours in a range of colours … no tasting though. If you want to buy some, go across the road to Galeries Lafayette where it’s half the price.
