The Zeppelin Field was constructed to provide a large area for Nazi political rallies and mass parades.\u00a0 Participants in rallies numbered up to 100,000 with such large numbers being deemed necessary by <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"right\" width=\"105\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/d\/14561-2\/DSC_3748.jpg?resize=105%2C80\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"Zeppelin Field\" height=\"80\" style=\"width: 105px; height: 80px\" title=\"Zeppelin Field\" \/>Hitler for mass hypnosis and suggestion. Nuremberg was then indeed a city of Nazi Rallies.<\/p>\n<p>We were disappointed that the area had been cordoned off for rally of a different kind &#8211; there was a motorbike race on later in the day and all we could do was drive around the area. Still the stories of how Hitler and his generals used to hype up\u00a0the troops here gave us goosebumps.\u00a0 The visit to the Justice Palace was also a spine-<img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"left\" width=\"110\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/d\/14600-2\/DSC_3761.jpg?resize=110%2C85\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"Palace of Justice\" height=\"85\" style=\"width: 110px; height: 85px\" title=\"Palace of Justice\" \/>chilling experience as our guide recounted stories of Nazi attrocities&#8230; it did not help with the morning temperature being cool as well.\u00a0 We got to see Court Room 600 where the trial was held.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Nuremberg has transformed itself into\u00a0an industrial town, with 30% of German toys produced here.\u00a0 Nuremburg town <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"right\" width=\"85\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/d\/14664-2\/DSC_3788.jpg?resize=85%2C110\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"Nuremburg town\" height=\"110\" style=\"width: 85px; height: 110px\" title=\"Nuremburg town\" \/>square was pretty shut and all we could do was to peer into shop windows.\u00a0 We saw\u00a0the Gingerbread (<em>Lebkuchen<\/em>) shop dating back to 1610. Apparently gingerbread has been produced in Nuremberg for over 600 years.<\/p>\n<p>This afternoon, onboard actvity included a lecture on locks by a guest speaker. We go through 68 locks on this cruise and this section contained the biggest and most interesting ones. Seeing the road pass under your boat as you cruise down the canal is quite an experience!
