the \u2018Heart of England\u2019 to <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"right\" width=\"110\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/d\/8743-2\/GB_0133.jpg?resize=110%2C85\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"Shakespeare's house\" height=\"85\" style=\"width: 110px; height: 85px\" title=\"Shakespeare's house\" \/>Stratford-upon-Avon, birthplace of\u00a0William Shakespeare.\u00a0 Situated on the River Avon, Stratford-upon-Avon is\u00a0everything that you expect a beautiful English town\u00a0to be, with picturesque houses, pubs, churches, parks, canals and lakes.\u00a0 One could easily spend a week here exploring this historic market town and its surroundings.\u00a0 There are a\u00a0 number of attractions here linked to the great bard and tourists from all over flock to Stratford each year to enjoy the literary and cultural activities and to pay homage to this great\u00a0writer and dramatist.\u00a0 Our first stop of course was Shakespeare&#8217;s birthplace.\u00a0 We were guided through the family home\u00a0where he grew up and gained <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"left\" width=\"85\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/d\/8779-2\/GB_0153.jpg?resize=85%2C110\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"Garden statues\" height=\"110\" style=\"width: 85px; height: 110px\" title=\"Garden statues\" \/>inspiration for his works.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In Bancroft Gardens, you&#8217;ll see a memorial, together with statues of his literary characters, including Hamlet and Lady McBeth.\u00a0 In the canal along the garden, there were many &#8220;Narrow boats&#8221; or canal live-aboard barges in a loch at <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"right\" width=\"110\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/d\/8787-2\/GB_0157.jpg?resize=110%2C85\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"Canal boats\" height=\"85\" style=\"width: 110px; height: 85px\" title=\"Canal boats\" \/>Stratford-on-Avon.\u00a0 They look pretty neat, but one disadvantage is that you&#8217;ll get heaps of tourists gaping into the boats during the day.<\/p>\n<p>Check out the Holy Trinity Church where you&#8217;ll find Shakepeare&#8217;s graveyard in the gardens.\u00a0 It was really great just walking all over the town as there were so many pretty views and buildings decorated with hanging baskets.\u00a0 I&#8217;m so envious of the flowers as mine don&#8217;t seem to grow so well back
