As we passed through Ireland\u2019s highest mountain range, the MacGillicuddy Reeks, we experienced a sense of the unhurried pace of Irish life surrounding us, especially when we reached the three peaceful Lakes of Killarney.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"left\" width=\"85\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/d\/17867-2\/DSC_0494.jpg?resize=85%2C110\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"Ring of Kerry\" height=\"110\" style=\"width: 85px; height: 110px\" title=\"Ring of Kerry\" \/>The Ring of Kerry is well-established route around the Iveragh Peninsula which takes you through scenic mountain and coastal views.\u00a0 Slate-roofed fishing villages are scattered around the coast and along the cliffside,\u00a0 mountain goats sheltered from the cold.\u00a0 You can do the trip in either direction however visitors normally start and end at Killarney.\u00a0 The Lakes of Killarney are well-known for its splendid scenery.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"right\" width=\"110\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/d\/17887-2\/DSC_0505.jpg?resize=110%2C85\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"Sneem Village\" height=\"85\" style=\"width: 110px; height: 85px\" title=\"Sneem Village\" \/>At lunchtime, we pulled into the village of Sneem which is on the northern side of Kenmare Bay.\u00a0 Sneem Village&#8217;s main source of income\u00a0is tourism and it\u00a0is an ideal base for exploring the region.\u00a0 One of the main attractions of this village is its colorful buildings.\u00a0 There is also a\u00a0quaint village green.\u00a0 The village really <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"left\" width=\"110\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/d\/17891-2\/DSC_0508.jpg?resize=110%2C85\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"Sneem colorful houses\" height=\"85\" style=\"width: 110px; height: 85px\" title=\"Sneem colorful houses\" \/>comes to life in first week of August when it celebrates the Welcome Home Festival.\u00a0 The Festival is in honor of the numbers who left Ireland.\u00a0 The Village is hour-glass shaped and divided in two by Sneem River.\u00a0 The bridge over Sneem river is the focal point of the town.\u00a0 The group had lunch at the Bank House which is now a\u00a0B&amp;B.\u00a0 The village is very pretty and it was definitely better roaming the place than spending the available time having lunch.<\/p>\n<p>Helen<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>DAY 10 &#8211; An excursion took us around the magical Ring of Kerry where\u00a0we encountered a world of towering cliffs, lush lake lands and remote villages.
