However, thankfully everything in the tourist areas like <strong>Saint-Germain-des-Pr\u00e9s<\/strong> and <strong>Latin Quarter <\/strong>are open.<\/li>\n<li>Many <strong>Paris sightseeing attractions<\/strong> are closed one day a week, e.g. the <strong>Louvre <\/strong>closes on Tuesday and <strong>Versailles <\/strong>on Monday.<\/li>\n<li>Cafes and restaurants often close one day a week as well, so it&#8217;s wise to check opening and closing times.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I came across a great patisserie in <strong>Rue Montorgueil<\/strong>. It turns out that <strong>La Maison Stohrer<\/strong> is one of Paris&#8217;s oldest and most revered patisseries and caterers.\u00a0 Much as I try to work out its opening hours, it didn&#8217;t seem to have business hours posted anywhere.\u00a0 However, <strong>Travel Signposts<\/strong> has a post on <strong>La Maison Stohrer&#8217;s interesting history<\/strong> in the link below.<\/p>\n<p>The Parisiennes may well have all gone on holidays, but they have been replaced many times over by tourists.\u00a0 Paris is <strong>very, very busy<\/strong> so be prepared to queue everywhere. I pre-purchased tickets to Versailles, but still had to queue for nearly an hour to get in.<\/p>\n<p>Our <strong>Paris apartment<\/strong> was great for basing ourselves.
