{"id":187,"date":"2007-11-12T22:50:00","date_gmt":"2007-11-12T12:50:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.travelsignposts.com\/wordpress\/?p=187"},"modified":"2007-11-12T22:50:00","modified_gmt":"2007-11-12T12:50:00","slug":"from-sunny-beach-to-bucharest-romania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.travelsignposts.com\/wordpress\/romania\/from-sunny-beach-to-bucharest-romania","title":{"rendered":"From Sunny Beach to Bucharest, Romania"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"float: right\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\r\ngoogle_ad_client = \"pub-1009507070974015\";\r\ngoogle_alternate_ad_url = \"http:\/\/www.travelsignposts.com\/google_adsense_script.html\";\r\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\r\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\r\ngoogle_ad_format = \"300x250_as\";\r\ngoogle_ad_type = \"text_image\";\r\n\/\/2007-06-30: TSBlog 300x250\r\ngoogle_ad_channel = \"2928184950\";\r\ngoogle_color_border = \"FFFFFF\";\r\ngoogle_color_bg = \"FFFFFF\";\r\ngoogle_color_link = \"FF6600\";\r\ngoogle_color_text = \"000000\";\r\ngoogle_color_url = \"339933\";\r\n\/\/-->\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"\r\n  src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\r\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>This morning, with much relief, we left <a href=\"http:\/\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/v\/Bulgaria\/SunnyBeach\/AJP_2461.jpg.html\" title=\"Sunny Beach, Bulgaria\">Sunny Beach <\/a>and made our way to Bucharest.\u00a0 We travelled along the same road that we did yesterday when we went to Balchik, passing through Varna again.\u00a0 A few of us thought that we would have been better <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"right\" width=\"110\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/d\/36267-2\/AJP_2461.jpg?resize=110%2C85\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"Sunny Beach, Bulgaria\" height=\"85\" style=\"width: 110px; height: 85px\" title=\"Sunny Beach, Bulgaria\" \/>off\u00a0staying in Varna than in tacky\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/v\/Bulgaria\/SunnyBeach\/AJP_2460.jpg.html\" title=\"Sunny Beach - Disco ads\">Sunny Beach<\/a>.\u00a0 Departure time was early as we had to cross the Bulgarian and Romanian borders today, an interesting exercise as some of the border guards appear to be still stuck in <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"left\" width=\"110\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/d\/36265-2\/AJP_2460.jpg?resize=110%2C85\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"Sunny Beach - disco ad\" height=\"85\" style=\"width: 110px; height: 85px\" title=\"Sunny Beach - disco ad\" \/>Communist ways\u00a0and that the 1990 revolution had no bearing on them at all.\u00a0 Their scowling and\u00a0unfriendly looks were enough to give concern to the tour guide.<\/p>\n<p>We arrived in Bucharest in the afternoon and had sufficient time to do a quick city tour, which included the Parliament Palace, University Square and the former Communist headquarters.\u00a0 Enormous resources were used to build the 5,000 room Parliament building, now deemed a white elephant as it&#8217;s not used effectively.
