{"id":60,"date":"2007-05-24T22:54:50","date_gmt":"2007-05-24T12:54:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.travelsignposts.com\/wordpress\/?p=60"},"modified":"2007-05-24T22:54:50","modified_gmt":"2007-05-24T12:54:50","slug":"winter-sales-in-london","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.travelsignposts.com\/wordpress\/christmas-in-europe-2006\/winter-sales-in-london","title":{"rendered":"Winter sales in London"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"float: right\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\r\ngoogle_ad_client = \"pub-1009507070974015\";\r\ngoogle_alternate_ad_url = \"http:\/\/www.travelsignposts.com\/google_adsense_script.html\";\r\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\r\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\r\ngoogle_ad_format = \"300x250_as\";\r\ngoogle_ad_type = \"text_image\";\r\n\/\/2007-06-30: TSBlog 300x250\r\ngoogle_ad_channel = \"2928184950\";\r\ngoogle_color_border = \"FFFFFF\";\r\ngoogle_color_bg = \"FFFFFF\";\r\ngoogle_color_link = \"FF6600\";\r\ngoogle_color_text = \"000000\";\r\ngoogle_color_url = \"339933\";\r\n\/\/-->\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"\r\n  src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\r\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>Well, after a nice relaxing evening, and not having to answer to early morning wake-up calls, we were re-energized and ready to crack the winter sales in London.\u00a0 All the shops along Oxford Street had\u00a0SALES signs plastered on the shop front and unless you had loads of time, you needed a plan as to how best to tackle the sales.\u00a0 Luckily, Tony knows the scene pretty well, so\u00a0we hit Selfridges first to check out what we could find under this one roof.\u00a0 My eyes feasted on the racks of beautiful clothing from Kenzo, Cavalli, Gucci, McQueen, etc., however, given the strength of Sterling, the prices were still pretty steep, inspite of being discounted by 50%.\u00a0 The shoes and boots were fabulous and I did end up buying one pair of boots.<\/p>\n<p>After Selfridges, we went to nearby South Molton Street to see what luxury labels were available there.\u00a0 It was an attractive street, but unfortunately most of the shops were closed for the holidays.\u00a0 We walked along Bond Street and saw more big names there, but knew that prices would be high at these places.\u00a0 Fortunately, I had my shopping fix in Rome and I was no longer craving to acquire more designer goodies.\u00a0\u00a0We then moved along to\u00a0Carnaby Street as I hadn&#8217;t been there for a very long time.
