These were brought from the various warring countries after WWII in 1946. There were originally 14, but a 15th was made by local German prisoners who wanted to join the &#8220;pilgrimage for peace&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>As you walk up the hill, see if you can spot the <strong>metal scallop shells<\/strong> (cockle) set in the road.
