{"id":94,"date":"2007-06-28T23:16:00","date_gmt":"2007-06-28T13:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.travelsignposts.com\/wordpress\/?p=94"},"modified":"2007-06-28T23:16:00","modified_gmt":"2007-06-28T13:16:00","slug":"a-day-in-amsterdam-european-river-cruise","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.travelsignposts.com\/wordpress\/european-river-cruise\/a-day-in-amsterdam-european-river-cruise","title":{"rendered":"A Day in Amsterdam &#8211; European River Cruise"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"float: right\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\"><!--\r\ngoogle_ad_client = \"pub-1009507070974015\";\r\ngoogle_alternate_ad_url = \"http:\/\/www.travelsignposts.com\/google_adsense_script.html\";\r\ngoogle_ad_width = 300;\r\ngoogle_ad_height = 250;\r\ngoogle_ad_format = \"300x250_as\";\r\ngoogle_ad_type = \"text_image\";\r\n\/\/2007-06-30: TSBlog 300x250\r\ngoogle_ad_channel = \"2928184950\";\r\ngoogle_color_border = \"FFFFFF\";\r\ngoogle_color_bg = \"FFFFFF\";\r\ngoogle_color_link = \"FF6600\";\r\ngoogle_color_text = \"000000\";\r\ngoogle_color_url = \"339933\";\r\n\/\/-->\r\n<\/script>\r\n<script type=\"text\/javascript\"\r\n  src=\"http:\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/show_ads.js\">\r\n<\/script><\/p>\n<p>Amsterdam <strong>is<\/strong> 700-year old city, so rich in history,\u00a0and if you only had a day here, it&#8217;s a tough choice as to whether to spend time outdoors,\u00a0wandering along the canals (the <em>Jordaan<\/em> is the best area, I think) or spend time in the museum quarter visiting some <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 85px; height: 110px;\" title=\"Nederlands Scheepvaart Museum\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/d\/20626-2\/dsc_2903.jpg?resize=85%2C110\" alt=\"Nederlands Scheepvaart Museum\" hspace=\"3\" vspace=\"3\" width=\"85\" height=\"110\" align=\"right\" \/>of the many museums that exist here.\u00a0 For a city the size of Amsterdam, it has a surpisingly large number of museums and of the top 10 attractions, museums occupy five of these spots.\u00a0 On our canal boat tour, we sailed past the replica of the Amsterdam moored just alongside the Nederlands Scheepvaart Museum.<\/p>\n<p>Lovers of art would not want to miss a visit to the Van Gogh Museum which houses the largest collection of the master&#8217;s work, or visit the Rijksmuseum with its extensive collection of paintings by Dutch masters.\u00a0 Each of these museums would require days to really appreciate and cover the exhibits within.<\/p>\n<p>I would have loved to visit the Bloemenmarkt, the last of the city&#8217;s floating markets.
