If the morning&#8217;s activities caused a need to refuel, lunch was available.\u00a0 The range of cakes and other desserts looked very tempting, and some control was needed if you didn&#8217;t want to go down the path <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"left\" width=\"110\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/d\/15686-2\/IMG_5469.jpg?resize=110%2C85\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"River scenery\" height=\"85\" style=\"width: 110px; height: 85px\" title=\"River scenery\" \/>of weight gain.\u00a0 The first of our on-board activities was a visit to the ship&#8217;s galley between 3:30 &#8211; 4:30 pm. Much as it would have been interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes to create our meals each day, the majority of the passengers were more interested in being on the sundeck enjoying the fantastic\u00a0scenery was fantastic.\u00a0\u00a0The weather was just brilliant and it was a great opportunity for photography.\u00a0 We were also\u00a0passing a <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"right\" width=\"110\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/d\/15710-2\/IMG_5477.jpg?resize=110%2C85\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"Bridge at Remagen\" height=\"85\" style=\"width: 110px; height: 85px\" title=\"Bridge at Remagen\" \/>piece of WWII history, the famous Bridge at Remagen.<\/p>\n<p>We arrived in Koblenz at 8:30 p.m. and this was to be an overnight stop. \u00a0Koblenz&#8217;s prosperity derives from its position at the confluence of the Rhine and the Moselle.\u00a0\u00a0A few people had thoughts of a drinking session in a local pub and attempted to find their way into town.\u00a0 Not knowing if there was\u00a0anything worthwhile happening downtown at night, <img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" vspace=\"3\" align=\"left\" width=\"110\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.travelsignposts.com\/Destination\/d\/15638-2\/DSC_3073.jpg?resize=110%2C85\" hspace=\"3\" alt=\"Deutsches Eck - German Corner \" height=\"85\" style=\"width: 110px; height: 85px\" title=\"Deutsches Eck - German Corner \" \/>the risk of tracking in the dark didn&#8217;t hold any appeal for us.\u00a0 Those who made the attempt\u00a0soon\u00a0gave up as it wasn&#8217;t clear how &#8216;short&#8217; the walk was and the streets were pretty dark.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0As the boat is moored in Koblenz for the night, it was great strolling along the river to the &#8220;Deutsche Ecke&#8221; or &#8220;German Corner&#8221; to view the statue of Emperor Wilhelm I. Floodlit by night, it was rather impressive.\u00a0 By the river, you&#8217;ll also find beer gardens and restaurants if more sustenance is required.
