Advent Music in Vienna Churches
St. Stephen’s Cathedral
- In the heart of the city, St. Stephen’s Cathedral hosts a series of Advent concerts from the end of November onwards. Featuring a mix of chamber music, Advent songs, specially selected readings and performances by the ORG-Choir of the Vienna Boys Choir and soloists from the Wiener KammerOrchester, these special evenings never fail to get concertgoers into the Christmas spirit. The program includes pieces by Mozart, Schubert and Bach.
- Mozart’s Requiem – It was at the St. Stephen’s Cathedral that Mozart married Constanze, had two of his children baptized and lay in state after his death on December 4, 1791. Every year on December 4th, St. Stephen’s Cathedral commemorates its most famous parishioner with a performance of Mozart’s Requiem.

‘Trumpets in Concert – A very special Christmas’ has been a festive and emotional highlight of the Christmas season in Vienna for over 20 years. Trumpet players Gernot Kahofer, Manuel Lichtenwöhrer, and Leonhard Leeb perform famous Christmas compositions which are sure to get everyone in the mood for the festive season. The Minoritenkirche is one of the oldest and most artistically significant churches in Vienna.
