Marché Edgar Quinet
Overlooked by the threatening bulk of the Montparnasse Tower, every Saturday and Wednesday morning you'll find a colourful open market along the boulevard Edgar Quinet. Stalls full of flowers, fruits, vegetables, fresh and processed meats, a myriad cheeses, oysters and fish, mixed up with sellers of pots and pans, clothing (I bought a panama hat) and bric-a-brac of varying quality. On Sunday it becomes an arts and craft market.
