In 1900 Col. William Hall-Walker purchased a farm at Tully, Kildare [Kildare - Ireland]
Here he started to breed thoroughbred horses [Kildare - Ireland]
Some described his policies on breeding and management as 'inspired' or 'eccentric' [Kildare - Ireland]
In 1915 he gave the Stud as a gift to the British Crown [Kildare - Ireland]
In return, he was bestowed the title Lord Wavertree [Kildare - Ireland]
Tully continued as the British National Stud until 1943 [Kildare - Ireland]
In 1943 it was handed back to the Irish government [Kildare - Ireland]
In 1945 the Irish National Stud Company was formed [Kildare - Ireland]
Two champion horses of The National Stud [Kildare - Ireland]
Vintage Crop won the Melbourne Cup in 1993 [Kildare - Ireland]
