42nd Würzburg Bach Festival

The Bach Festival returns to Würzburg for its 42nd season from 19 to 28 November 2010. The concert series traditionally juxtaposes the works of Bach with those of another composer and this year’s programme features the exciting combination of Johann Sebastian Bach and Felix Mendelssohn.

The festival kicks off with the opening ceremony on 19 November 2010 and closes with Cuban jazz rhythms on 28 November 2010.  In between there are another eight very different events. They include probably the most famous of Mendelssohn’s oratorios Elijah, his remarkably modern double concerto for piano and violin, organ works, cantatas, violin and piano concertos by both composers as well as Bach’s Christmas Oratorio.

Johann Sebastian Bach

Rich in history and cultural heritage, Würzburg is a town famous as the gateway to the Romantic Road and there’s much to see and do here.
