Valentine's Day in Paris

For many people, Paris is undoubtedly one of the most romantic cities in the world and what an ideal setting to celebrate Valentine’s Day.  Whether you prefer a feeling of being on top of the world at the summit of the Eiffel Tower, a dreamy cruise on the river Seine or a dinner and sexy show at the Moulin Rouge, there are certainly many moods and atmospheres you can create for that romantic moment. If you feel the need to declare your undying love in writing, you can also join thousands of people the world over in writing your message of love on “Le Mur des Je t’aime (The Wall of I Love You’s) at the Place des Abbesses in Montmartre.

Many of the hotels like the luxurious Prince de Galles Hotel – Champs-Elysées on George V, the Westin Paris with their Heavenly Beds® or Le Méridien Etoile, are offering champagene packages to help you set the mood, at a price of course!

For those lucky enough to be in Paris on this day of romance but don’t have the big bucks (or Euros) to splurge, or commercialization of the event has left you as cold as the current freezing winter, there are other splendid experiences you can have for a fraction of the cost if you head out of Paris.

How about a dinner in the heart of the medieval city of Carcassonne, an exchange of vows sur le pont d’Avignon or in one of the Chateaux of the Loire Valley – Chenonceau is my favourite, the possibilities are endless.

If you plan to head out to the countryside, the French Tourist authority have put out their 2009 guide to Auberges & Bistrots de France where you can experience the authentic and warm hospitality of the French countryside without having to mortgage your home.

Vive l’amour and a very loving day to all!

Helen
