Frühlingsfest – Munich Spring Festival

If September seems like a long time to wait for Oktoberfest, Munich has a Spring Festival “Frühlingsfest” which is a scaled down version of Oktoberfest.

The 46th Spring Festival is being held at Munich’s Theresienwiese (same location as Oktoberfest) from April 16 to May 2, 2010.

Oktoberfest

Frühlingsfest brings to an end the Strong Beer Season and in typical Munich Spring Festival tradition, the volksfest kicks off with a big parade. The City Councillor leads the opening ceremony and he’s also the man who will tap the first keg of beer.

Visitors will be able to enjoy Oktoberfest favourites like veal meatballs, pork knuckles, fresh cream of mushrooms with herbs and Spatenbrau beer on tap.

The Munich Spring Festival is also a paradise for sweet lovers with more than 40 vendors selling all kinds of sweets, including roasted almonds, sugar-coated apples and chocolate covered fruits – yum!.

Seems like a dangerous place for anyone on a diet!
