Walking through the Southern Byzantine Gate

This gate is built of travertine blocks and reused masonry and some marble. It was flanked by two square towers. Like the North Byzantine Gate, it has a large arch which rests on monolithic architrave. However, unlike the North Gate, this gateway is somewhat lower.
