Mostly a residential district that extends from the Gare Montparnasse to the Seine, the 15eme is a more traditional neighbourhood, very upscale in the area bordering the 7th arrondissement and convenient for the trendier Montparnasse (14eme).

In size and population, the 15eme is the largest quarter of Paris; not so much to see but quite a few hotels. Because it's mainly residential, there are plenty of specialist shops selling wine, bread, meat, cheese, fruit and vegetables. In the early 20th century, many artists -- like Chagall, Léger, and Modigliani -- lived here in a shared atelier known as "The Beehive."

The Andre Citroën park, named in honour of the car maker, runs along the banks of the Seine and is worth a visit, and if you go a bit further north you can see the small version of the Statue of Liberty next to the river.
