St. Margaret's Chapel
[Edinburgh Castle - Edinburgh - Scotland]
St. Margaret's Chapel is dedicated to the Queen of Malcolm III
St Margaret's Chapel was built in 1130 by David I and dedicated to his mother. Whereas Malcolm III was a warrior who loved fighting the Norman invaders of England, Margaret was a deeply religious woman. When her husband and eldest son Edward were killed in an ambush in 1093, Margaret took to her bed in Edinburgh castle and died of a broken heart. St. Margaret's Chapel is the oldest building in Edinburgh. [Edinburgh Castle - Edinburgh - Scotland]
