Innsbruck to Verona – Christmas in Europe

After Wilten Basilica, we hit the road again and this morning we were headed to Verona to visit Juliet’s balcony. We’ve been here previously when it was quieter and Tony was able to dash up to the balcony and pretend that he was Romeo.  This morning the courtyard was quite crowded and playing Romeo again was not possible.

At the far end of the courtyard stood Nereo Constantini’s bronze statue of Juliet.  Thousands of tourists from all over the world visit each year and we were told that if you placed your hand on her right breast, it will bring you luck.  Of course, lots of visitors wanted to have their promise of good luck captured in a digital snap.  There was a group of school boys there who were particularly keen to ensure that they got their bit of good luck!
