Ground Transportation from/to Brussels South Charleroi Airport is easy:

If you’re travelling to Brussels on budget carriers like Ryanair, Wizz Air, Jetairfly, etc., you will land at Brussels South Charleroi Airport. Charleroi Airport is in Charleroi which is approximately 46 kilometres (29 miles) from the centre of Brussels.

By Bus

The local TEC buses (Bus A) transfer passengers between the airport and Charleroi train station. The buses leave the airport every 30 minutes on weekdays and every hour on weekends and the journey time is approximately 20 minutes. From Charleroi-Sud train station you can reach any of the stations in Belgium.  The trains are a more efficient way of getting around Belgium, however for other destinations by bus, check the TEC website www.infotec.be.

By train

A shuttle coach leaves Charleroi Airport every 30 minutes to take passengers to the Charleroi-Sud station.  From Charleroi-Sud you can catch the train to Brussels south railway station (Brussels Midi).  With 22 tracks Brussels Midi is the biggest station of the Belgian rail network and from here you can connect to international train networks such as the Eurostar, TGV, Thalys, etc.

Shuttle tickets are sold inside the airport terminal. You can also buy tickets at website: www.voyages-lelan.be.  The shuttle coach stop is at the intersection of rue de France and rue de l’Instruction.  Travel time is approximately one hour.  For indicative timetable see www.charleroi-airport.com.

Shuttle Transfers

If you don’t want to bother with the inconvenience of buses and trains, our partner Viator offers private transfers from Brussels Charleroi Airport straight to your hotel.
For more information about transfers from Charleroi Airport to your hotel in Brussels, Bruges or Ghent and how to book, see Here.

  • www.mini-bus-services.be  – Mob: +32 (0) 478 73 80 80

By Taxi

Taxis are available 24/7 outside the passenger terminal. You can ask for a fixed rate fare to your destination.

By car

The airport is accessible by the highway from Brussels, Liège or Lille.  Short and long-term car parking spaces are available.

As you are travelling during the peak holiday season, it would be wise to be conservative about travel times. Also, don’t forget that due to recent events in Paris/Brussels, there is increased security at airports and train stations in Brussels.

I would suggest that you phone Belgian Rail and ask them what is the best way to get to Antwerp on Monday evening. They would have on-the-ground information about train schedules and whether you should expect delays at any stage of your travel.

      Kind regards,
      Helen

      Hi Stratos,

If you are arriving at Brussels Airport, there is a train station below the terminal (on basement Level -1).

If you are able to make it quickly to the station (platform 1), there is a direct train to Antwerp at 23:42. The next train is at 23:59, but it requires two changes.

    Hi Helen,

Can you please tell me the best way to get from Charleroi airport to the Novotel at Zaventem airport?

I get in quite late and I’ll be tired. However, I’m travelling on a budget so unsure if I can afford to get a taxi.

      Hi Ron,
According to Novotel’s website, to get to the hotel by train, from any station in Brussels: “take the train to Brussels Zaventem Airport. You will arrive at the airport on level -2 and will find our free shuttle bus waiting for you on level 0.”
At Charleroi Airport you’ll need to buy a ticket (5 EUR) from the ticket machine. This covers the TEC bus from Charleroi Airport to Charleroi Sud Station where you catch the train to Brussels Zaventem Airport.

      http://www.charleroi-airport.com/en/passengers/acces-and-parking/by-rail-bus/index.html
      http://www.belgianrail.be/jp/sncb-nmbs-routeplanner/query.exe/en?ld=std&AjaxMap=CPTVMap&seqnr=1&ident=6i.01208111.1420618537&OK#focus

This is a cheap way to get to the Novotel Hotel, but I believe the train trip takes 1.30 hrs and requires a couple of changes (see sample trip link above). You may wish to contact the hotel to see if there’s a better way of getting there.

      Hope the above helps.

      Best regards,
      Helen

    Hi Helen,

Thank you for nice tips. They are very nice. I used to take a but to Charleroi railway station from there a train to Brussels Midi. Sometimes I take a bus from Charleroi to Midi station.

But recently I start taking a taxi, cause we start coming with the group of guys. We found a taxi company called Airport Taxis. here is the link http://www.airport-taxis.be.

They have a chat system, it’s very easy to chat with them from abroad and book a taxi or ask extra information.

I hope my tip was useful for you guys.

    Hi Helen,

I fly into Brussels South Charleroi Airport next week and have booked a shuttle bus to Brussels south railway station (Brussels Midi). I booked it through voyages-lelan.be and have printed off my tickets. The site says that i need to ‘Validate my return ticket at the sales desk of the airport’ So i guess i need to find this sales desk before i board the bus to Brussels, but it’s not clear where the sales desk is in the airport.

All i can find on the internet is a photo from 2008 that seems to show the ‘Brussels City Shuttle’ ticket office’ at the far right end of the Airport terminal (as you exit the airport building) Is this correct or is it actually in the main airport builing? I assume that i won’t be able to get on the return coach unless the ticket has been validated first?

    Best Regards,

    Andy.

      Hi Andy,
Unfortunately the Charleroi Airport website is overloaded and not working and I’ve not been able to check their terminal map.
I’ve not used voyages-lelan before so I don’t know what their process is. Can I suggest that you email voyages-lelan directly and ask them to clarify the need to validate your return ticket. Since you’re travelling next week, you need an answer quickly. You can pose your question on:

      http://www.voyages-lelan.be/xml/page.html?LANG=uk&IDC=84

I suggest that you also email them with the same query on elan.aeroport@skynet.be.

All the best for your travels,
      Helen

      Hi Andy,
The Charleroi Airport website is back up again. Looking at the Terminal map, your Brussels City Shuttle is located on the far right of the terminal – see the two pink columns on the map. Click on the menu and it shows you where the particular service is located.

      http://www.charleroi-airport.com/laeroport/plan-du-terminal/index.html

      I hope this helps.

      Kind regards,
      Helen

Select Charleroi-Sud [B]. Please note that at Charleroi-Sud station you have to catch the TEC bus (Line A) to the airport. Bus travel time is about 20 minutes. See comments above.

      Kind regards,
      Helen

    Dear Helen,

I arrive by Wizz at Charleroi Airport and I need to get to Brussels Airport to catch my next flight which is about 7 hours later. Any suggestion how to get there? I konw there are many direct taxi services, but they charge “arm and leg”. Looks that I’ll have to get to Brussels Midi train station and then to Brussels Airport. I appreciate your comment.

    Thanks much,
    Kris.

      Hi Kris,

From Charleroi Airport, catch the TEC Bus (Line A) to Charleroi-Sud train station.
From Charleroi-Sud station, catch the train to Bruxelles-Midi (there is one quick platform change to make)
The Bruxelles-Midi train will take you to Brussels Airport station which is below the airport terminal.

To see what the journey looks like, go to http://www.belgianrail.be and select :

      From: Charleroi-Sud [B]
      To: BRUSSELS AIRPORT [BRU]

At Charleroi airport there are two ticket dispensers where you can buy a single or a return ticket (return on the same day) valid for “any Belgian destination”. This ticket covers the TEC bus (from the airport to Charleroi-Sud station) and a train journey (from Charleroi-Sud to any station in Belgium).

The two ticket dispensers are placed outside the airport, near Door 2. Two methods of payment are accepted: cash or credit/debit card.

I hope the above helps. There is also an information desk at Charleroi Airport where you can also get further help if needed.

      Kind regards,
      Helen

    Hi,

I am landing in Charleroi Airport and have a hotel booked in Namur. Could you please let me know which is the best way to get to my Hotel in Namur. I would prefer a private shuttle as I come in late and would like to get to the hotel as fast as possible however at an affordable cost.

Also what is there to see in Namur as it would be my first time visiting?

    Thanks,

    D

As mentioned above, a shuttle coach leaves Charleroi Airport every 30 minutes to take passengers to the main Brussels south railway station (Brussels Midi). From Brussels Midi you can catch a train to Amsterdam.

Go to the RailEurope site and type in From Brussels Midi To Amsterdam and you’ll get an idea of the schedule and cost.

      Kind regards,
