Troyes’ association with clothing dates back to 12th century
Troyes Designer Outlet is the first of McArthurGlen’s discount outlet malls in France, having opened in 1995. It’s not surprising that McArthurGlen chose this city as the location for their designer outlet as Troyes’ association with textile manufacture and knitting go back to the 12th century. The Marque Avenue and Marques City outlets are also located in the area.
Situated in the heart of the picturesque Champagne region, Troyes Designer Outlet is just an hour outside from the Paris city center. Here you’ll find 210 top fashion names, including Christian Lacroix, Armani, Feraud, Kenzo, Lancel, Polo Ralph Lauren, Cerruti and Energie. These names alone are enough to get my heart rate pumping! The Nike Factory Store, Wolford and Kookai are some of the other brands that have stores in McArthurGlen Troyes.
Local attractions
The town of Troyes itself is a big tourist attraction with its magnificent Gothic churches and medieval garden. The city is famous for its stained glass and sausages (andouillettes), its knitwear industry and factory shops. When we visited Troyes (see our Troyes photos), our tour director never mentioned shopping or designer discount outlets at all. I guess he was concerned about the possibility of losing half of his tour group to shopping! Other tourist attractions in the region include France’s famous champagne vineyards and the numerous nearby forests and lakes.
