Like many of France’s beautiful towns and villages, Normandy has many Christmas markets and events in historical locations.
Below are some places where you can taste French Christmas treats, do some pre-Christmas shopping and enjoy Christmas events to get you into the festive spirit.
Normandy Christmas Markets
Caen Christmas Market, Calvados (Dec 1 – Dec 24)
Caen’s traditional Marche de Noel includes over 50 stands selling an outstanding array of Christmas goodies and hand-made products. This cosmopolitan market welcomes sellers from around the world with products such as nativity figurines, foie gras, Christmas desserts, pain d’épices and much more.
Falaise Christmas Market, Calvados (Dec 9)
Falaise is enchanting in December! Christmas festivities start on December 1st with exhibitions, Christmas concerts, activities and street entertainment and fireworks. The Craft market takes place on December 9.
Liseux Christmas Market, Calvados – (Dec 7 – Dec 9)
Lisieux’s traditional Christmas market takes place on the Place Mitterand with more than seventy stands sell gifts, food and other Christmas provisions. Don’t miss the choirs singing and the arrival of Father Christmas himself.
Saint-Pierre-sur-dives Christmas Market, Calvados (Dec 8 – Dec 9)
This covered Christmas Market with 150 stalls takes place under France’s biggest medieval hall.
Le Havre Christmas Market, Seine-Maritime (Dec 7 – Dec 24)
30 wooden chalets will take over Place Perret for Le Havre’s Christmas market whilst Father Christmas’ village and workshop can be found on the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville.
Rouen Christmas Market, Seine-Maritime (Dec 1 – Dec 30)
Enjoy the traditional Christmas market in Rouen. Festive events will take place on the Place du Vieux Marché, the Old Market Square, where Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake. If you’re an ice-skating fan, the outdoor rink is not to be missed!

Mont Saint Michel Illuminations (tbc)
This Christmas be in awe, and see the magical Mont Saint-Michel light up during its festive Illuminations. Situated in the middle of a bay, Mont Saint-Michel welcomes nearly three and a half million people every year. The Christmas lights come on from 6 pm every evening.
