A Central Hotel Just Next to the Fatima Shrine:

Hotel in Fatima

Fatima Hotel, Fatima

We arrive at Fatima in the evening and there is just enough time to have a quick shower before dinner. There’s a mass and candlelight procession on tonight at 21:30 at the Chapel of the Apparitions and we are fortunate that our hotel for the evening, the Hotel Fátima, is just across the road from the Sanctuary of Fatima.

Fatima Temperature

Compared to the rest of the places we’ve visited so far in Portugal, the temperature at Fatima tonight is quite cold for a September evening. It’s a good thing that the Hotel Fatima is just across the road from the Fatima Shrine.  If we were staying further away, we probably would have been disinclined to go and see the candlelight procession. It is also great to be able to stroll back to the hotel once the procession was over.

Hotel Fatima’s Central Location

If you’re planning to do a pilgrimage to Fátima, and are looking for a central hotel, the Hotel Fátima is in a great location.

Classed as a four-star hotel (I would have said 3.5 star), the room rates are very reasonable.  Although our room is a little spartan, it is nevertheless comfortable. Some of the rooms feature balconies, while others have large windows. Although our room does not look out to any views, some bedrooms overlook the Sanctuary whilst others have a view of the property’s small garden.

Shopping in Fatima, Portugal

Fatima's Shopping District

Just round the corner from the Hotel Fatima is the shopping district where you can pick up drinks and supplies, have meals and shop for religious icons and souvenirs.

The hotel has all the standard amenities of a four-star hotel, including a Wi-Fi internet point, although we didn’t check this out.

Hotel Fatima’s  key attraction for travellers and pilgrims is its closeness to the Sanctuary of Fatima.  (Check room availability here.>)
