Girona-Costa Brava Airport is Also Known as Barcelona Girona Airport (GRO)

Girona-Costa Brava Airport, also known as Barcelona Girona Airport, is located approximately twelve kilometres south-west of the city of Girona.

Situated close to the Costa Brava and Pyrenees, and with Barcelona being only 85 kilometres away,  Girona Airport is an important air hub in respect of both tourism and commercial and industrial aviation.  Girona Airport is one of the European hubs for Ryanair – in fact it is its third largest in Europe.

Apart from Ryanair, Girona flights are covered by a number of budget airlines, including My Travel, Thomson, Air Scotland, BMA, Czech Airlines, Monarch Airlines, First Choice, Spanair and Transavia.

Girona Airport is well connected by public transport and is used as an alternative airport for Barcelona.  From Girona city centre, trains and buses connect with all of the tourist points of interest in the Girona province and Barcelona.   In Barcelona, the train and bus stations are located quite close together beside Plaça d’Espanya in central Barcelona .

Buses

Ryanair now has a bus line that covers the Girona Airport to Girona and the Girona Airport to Barcelona routes. The ticket sales office is located on the ground floor, in the Arrivals Hall next to the car hire offices. For more information, ring 902 130 014.  The hourly bus service to Girona takes about 25 minutes.
