Castell de Peralada

In the heat of the Spanish summer, what could be more magical than to enjoy a concert on the grounds of a medieval castle. For those looking for culture in Spain, the 25th Peralada Festival is back at the Castell de Peralada from July 15 – August 14, 2011.

Since 1987, Peralada Festival has been showcasing performances by Spanish and internationally renowned singers, classical concerts, operas, dance and other performances.

Joan Manuel Serrat opens the 25th Peralada Festival on July 15th with a wonderful concert, accompanied by the Orquesta Sinfónica del Vallès and his loyal travelling companion, pianist Ricard Miralles.

Nabucco, one of Verdi’s most popular operas, is the opening concert on July 16th.

Other unforgettable acts include:

Plácido Domingo – Enjoy an unforgettable concert with this legendary tenor, who incidentally will also be celebrating his 70th birthday at the Peralada Festival.

Montserrat Caballé has been closely associated with the Castell de Peralada Festival since it began. This great diva will be thrilling the audience with works by composers such as Nidermayer, Nicolai, Catalani, Gounod and Massenet.

Quincy Jones has chosen the Castell de Peralada Festival for the exclusive presentation in Spain of his latest music project, “A Special Evening with Quincy Jones & The Global Gumbo All Stars”. This is a special treat for Quincy Jones fans.

Rafael Amarago pays tribute to the Peralada Festival with his flamenco peformance titled “Para Peralada”.

La Locomotora Negra, one of Spain’s biggest swing bands performs 1920s and 1930s flavoured Jazz, including music by Duke Ellington and Count Basie.
