Paris, the city of Romance:

Seine Dinner Cruise

An essential part of any holiday in Paris is a cruise on the Seine River. The number of river cruise operators and riverboats plying the Seine is evidence of the popularity of this tourist attraction.

Cruising down the Seine River on a dinner cruise is a truly romantic and memorable experience. One of our fellow passengers, an eighty year-old lady, says that it’s been her life’s dream to experience the romance of a Seine river cruise on a Parisian evening.  Finally, she’s made it but laments that there’s no partner to share the romance with.  However, with everyone in such high spirits and sharing in the fun on board, our friend didn’t feel left out.

There are many different types of Seine River cruises you can do, from the plain day time cruise to various combination of evening cruises, such as cruise and dinner on your riverboat, cruise and dinner in town or cruise and dinner in the Eiffel Tower.  The Seine dinner cruise is pretty special as it allows you to take in the sights of Paris from the water, enjoy the best French cuisine and evening entertainment.

The more popular dinner cruises regularly sell out weeks in advance, so it’s advisable to book ahead to avoid disappointment.  Also be warned that many of these dinner cruises are formal affairs and anyone showing up wearing casual jeans, sportswear and joggers run the risk of being turned away.

Mushroom vol-au-vent – Seine River Cruise

All the riverboats are equipped with floodlights and as you cruise along the Seine River, the buildings along the riverbank and bridges of Paris are brightly illuminated.  The cruises usually sail along the Left Bank in one direction and then return to the lights of the Eiffel Tower via the Right Bank. Our three-course dinner was really delicious, although some of the cream was a bit rich for me.

The following is a sampling of Seine River cruise options:

Seine River Cruise and Paris Canals Tour

This is a two and a half hour daytime cruise on the River Seine and the canal Saint Martin.  You’ll cruise the waters of the River Seine enjoying a unique view of Paris, before moving on to get a view of old Paris from the canal Saint Martin. See many of the major attractions of Paris from the water including Notre Dame and The Louvre.

Seine River Cruise and Paris Illuminations Tour

On this two and a half hour tour, you’ll cruise along the Seine River and see the illuminated buildings and bridges of Paris and then transfer to a coach tour of the city. You’ll see the famous sights of Paris including Place de la Concorde Square, Place Vendome, Opera, Champs-Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, Trocadero, Invalides, Notre Dame Cathedral and Place du Chatelet.

Bateaux Parisiens Dinner Cruise on the Seine

This four hour Seine dinner cruise is the creme-de-la-creme of cruises. Spend a romantic evening cruising down the Seine River on a dinner cruise which combines Paris sightseeing, French cuisine and evening entertainment. Bateaux Parisiens have three dinner cruise options, Service Etoile, Service Select or the Service Premier where you’ll have a private table for two at the front of the boat – ideal for that romantic dinner in Paris!

Paris Seine River Dinner Cruise

This three and a half hour dinner cruise is a little less elaborate than the one above.  You’ll spend an evening gliding along the Seine River and enjoy a three-course dinner and drinks on your cruise along the Seine.

Seine River Cruise, Paris Illuminations and Dinner on the Champs-Elysees

On this four hour tour, you’ll cruise along the Seine River, then do a city-tour by coach which will show you the famous sights of Paris by night, including Place de la Concorde Square, Place Vendome, Opera, Champs-Elysees, Arc de Triomphe, Trocadero, Invalides, Notre Dame Cathedral and Place du Chatelet.

After your Paris Illuminations tour, dinner will be at a French restaurant in town with views overlooking the Arc de Triomphe on the Champs-Elysees.

Eiffel Tower Dinner and Seine River Cruise

Enjoy a three-course dinner at the first floor Eiffel Tower restaurant before going on your Seine River cruise.

Of course there are many more Seine River tour options which you can check out HERE.
