Christmas is a special time Munich and as with the rest of Germany, music is very much a part of the Munich Christmas celebrations. If you are spending Christmas in Munich, why not enjoy one of the many Christmas concerts in the city.
Popular Munich Attractions
Most of the concerts are held in venues which are themselves very popular Munich attractions such as the Munich Residenz. With ten courtyards and 130 rooms, the Munich Residenz is the largest city palace in Germany. This Munich royal palace was once the seat of government and the royal residence of Bavarian monarchs. Many of the great halls in the Munich Residenz are now used for functions, including classical concerts. Another such venue is the Cuvilliés-Theatre, considered to be Europe’s finest surviving Rococco theatre.
If you prefer to enjoy your Christmas music in a more intimate setting, these Christmas events in Munich can also be enjoyed in churches like the Allerheiligen Hofkirche.

The English-Speaking Music Ensembles e.V. of Munich is holding their “A Christmas Festival” on Dec. 10, featuring an orchestra, and choir, and a big band, all residents of Munich. We are all amateur musicians who have a great time together! Handel’s Messiah with the Hallelujah Chorus is on our bill, as well as A Christmas Festival, Carol of the Bells, The Virgin Mary Had a Baby Boy, Variations on Deck the Hall, and O Nata Lux.
