Dallmayr is the Place to Go for Gourmet Food in Munich:
If you love good food, Dallmayr is definitely the place to visit in Munich. This upmarket delicatessen has food that tantalises your senses.
Food, Glorious Food
We first came across Dallmayr years ago when we were looking to buy coffee in Munich. Being finicky coffee drinkers, we noticed that the upmarket cafés served Dallmayr coffee so that was a good indicator for us. We found the main Dallmayr store at Dienerstraße 14–15.
Quality coffee, tea, chocolates, cakes and deli goods, seafood, alcohol are all available here. Their handmade chocolates are produced on the floor above the deli and on the second floor, their 90-odd chefs prepare all the gourmet food and snacks available in the delicatessen.
More than a Deli
There is a café-bistrot, bar & grill and restaurant at Dallmayr’s. Their restaurant is one of the few in Munich with two Michelin stars, so you can expect to pay here. We did have a snack lunch here on a previous visit, but not this time. Dallmayr has become such a popular tourist attraction and being Christmas time, it was crowded.
The Dallmayr store Christmas windows are an eye-catcher. In each window arch stands a Christmas trees decorated with all the goodies that you can buy in the store. The pink tree is covered with chocolates, cakes and biscuits, and there’s a deli goods tree, a beverage tree and one covered with bottles of champagne.
The Dallmayr business has been around for over 300 years and it is still family owned. So, unfortunately I don’t have shares. If I were living in Munich, Dallmayr would be my second home.
