A Chinese Tower Christmas Market Set in a Beautiful English Garden:

The last time we were at the Chinesischer Turm Weihnachtsmarkt (Chinese Tower Christmas Market) in Munich we came across a stall full of Räuchermännchen (German incense smokers). The owner of the stall, Peter Wittman, was a very nice and friendly guy so we thought we would pay him a visit on this trip.

Our Räuchermännchen friend was not there
Sadly for us, neither Peter nor his very nice stall were present at this year’s Chinese Tower Christmas Market. He did mention before that he operates at another location so we hope he is well. There are other stalls selling small quantities of these German incense burners, but none as good as Peter’s.

The Chinesischer Turm Weihnachtsmarkt is set in Munich’s Englischer Garten (English Garden). The market is so called because of the 25-metre-high wooden pagoda in the park. The Christmas market here is small, intimate and has many attractions for kids. But grown ups don’t have to go without – with some 7,000 seats, the beer garden at the Chinesischer Turm is the second largest in Munich. Tony’s quick video cut gives an overview of the market.

The English Garden itself is very nice public park and said to be one of the largest city parks. It certainly would be a nice park to explore in the warmer months.
