Danube River Sightseeing Tours from Passau :

Passau City from the River

Located at the confluence of the Danube, Inn, and Ilz rivers, Passau is often referred to as the “Town of Three Rivers”.  So, it would seem appropriate on any visit to Passau, that a river sightseeing tour of Passau should be on the itinerary.

Passau is a regular stop on any Danube River cruises. But if you happen to be in Passau and are not part of an extended Danube River cruise, you can still enjoy a Danube River tour.

Danube River Cruises

Danube Shipping Wurm + Köck is a company that has been running cruises along the Danube in Bavaria and Austria for over 35 years. The company has a fleet of eleven ships, seven of which are based in Passau, two in Deggendorf and the other two are based in Linz.

So you can join their cruises from any of the three cities. The boats in their fleet vary in sizes – the smallest boat has a capacity for 150 passengers and the largest takes 800. All ships are equipped with their own galleys, where food is prepared fresh so you can enjoy meals on board. The river boats also have a spacious deck so passengers can relax and enjoy the river views.

A Crystal Ship made with Swarovski Crystals

The pride of the company is its latest boat, the Crystal Ship made exclusively with Swarovski Crystals. I’m sure most ladies would enjoy being on this cruise. The Crystal Ship is unique in the Danube and on board you can experience features such as Crystal fountains, Neptune’s kingdom, water, theaters and other crystal and water attractions. The Crystal Ship carries 600 passengers and the 2-hour round trips are very reasonably priced.

Between Deggendorf and Linz, the company offers a variety of day cruises, evening cruises, special event cruises as well as short break packages that combine a cruise and hotel arrangement.

Danube Shipping Wurm + Köck is Germany’s largest Danube river touring company and they carry an average of 500,000 passengers annually. For more information on Passau cruises and prices and timetables, see their website www.donauschiffahrt.de.

      Hi Ed,

I don’t have any information on day tours from Passau to Linz, except for river cruises like the one above. You may wish to check with the Passau Tourism people (tourist-info@passau.de) who will be able to give you names of local tour operators.

Alternatively, you can catch the train from Passau to Linz. Once you are in Linz, there are sightseeing tours you can join from there.

The Linz guided walking tour is usually conducted in German, so you’ll need to contact them for English language tours. (http://www.linz.at/english/tourism/4395.asp)
Or, you can hop on the Linz City Express (http://www.geigers.at/)

Good luck in planning you Linz visit and have a great trip.

      Kind regards,
      Helen
