A REVIEW OF OUR STAY AT THE BERLIN CLIPPER CITY HOME APARTMENTS:

Berlin Clipper City Home Apartments

Our apartment 541 at the Berlin Clipper

For our Christmas visit to Berlin we stayed at the Clipper City Home Apartments at Behrenstrasse 47, in the Mitte district of Berlin. Berlin is quite a spread out city and with so many nice hotels to choose from, deciding where to stay can be quite a predicament. In the end I chose the Clipper City Home Apartments as it was close to the Gendarmenmarkt Christmas market that we were planning to visit.

First Impression

The Clipper City Home Apartments is a modern 5-star apartment-hotel with 59 rooms. Check-in was efficient and we took an instant liking to our room. It was exactly as shown on the Booking.com website.

There are four categories of apartments, ranging from Studio to Deluxe Apartment. The Comfort Room that we had was not the largest on offer, but it was very well designed and laid out. It was certainly large enough for our needs. There is a small kitchenette where you can prepare breakfast or light meals. The Comfort Room is equipped with tea-making facilities, an espresso machine and a microwave. If you intend to cook during your stay, then consider the Executive or Deluxe Apartment which has more kitchen facilities.

The balcony was an attraction for me when making the booking. However, I was disappointed on arrival to find that during winter the balcony, although enclosed, was extremely cold. In summer it would be great to enjoy breakfast or evening drinks on the balcony. As we were out a lot, we didn’t try heating up this area from the room heating.

Apartments

The Clipper has 59 apartments. Our apartment no. 541 on the 5th floor was a smart-looking, business-type room of average size. The bathroom was smallish, but it had nice collateral.

Dining

The Clipper City Home Apartments does not have its own cafes or restaurants on site, but you can have breakfast and other meals at the Italian restaurant next door. There is an internal entrance to the restaurant so you don’t have to step out of the apartment building.

What we particularly liked:

  • The smart design of the apartment and the cleanliness of the place.
  • Free WiFi and signals in the room was good.
  • The Gendarmenmarkt Weihnachtsmarkt was an easy stroll from the apartment
  • Just around the corner is Friedrichstrasse with all its shops and cafes
  • Easy public transportation to Berlin attractions
  • The price was reasonable

What we were not keen on:

  • Nothing really. We would happily stay here again.
