DAY 1 – WALKING THE PROSECCO HILLS:

Mixed cold cuts

Day 1 of our Walking the Prosecco Hills hiking holiday is arrival day. By the time all our group members arrive and we get to the Hotel Contà, there is just time to unpack and get ready for a quick briefing and dinner.

Welcome Dinner

For our welcome dinner, we are taken to L’Enoteca Corte del Medá, just across the courtyard from the hotel. The osteria has very good online ratings and I believe their chefs have been show-cased in a local TV food show. The dining room downstairs is cosy and nicely decorated.

Platters of cold cuts, cheeses and other entrees arrive at the tables at such speed and the waiters also generously ply us with their prosecco and red wines.

For pescatarians like us, there is plenty to choose from as well. Even before the main meals arrive we are getting quite full.

For my main, I choose the porcini risotto which is absolutely delicious.

Tony goes for the cheese plate and is happy with his selection of cheeses, each one accompanied by a matching jam.

For desserts we are served gelato. I love gelato, but find myself struggling to finish it.

Overall, it’s a great meal to start our hiking holiday and certainly there’s enough calories to fuel our walk tomorrow morning.
