Castel Guelfo Outlet – A Bologna Outlet with Some 100 Stores:

Bologna Shopping

Shopping in Bologna

While on our walking tour of Bologna, our tour guide made an off-the-cuff remark that Milan is the exhibition centre for fashion, but much of the production takes place in Bologna. If she is correct, then there must be some really good designer outlets around Bologna.

The one outlet village that I’ve come across so far is the Castel Guelfo Style Outlet. For those familiar with outlet shopping, this Bologna outlet offers the usual discounts ranging from 30% to 70% throughout the year.

The Style Outlet

The Style Outlet is an outlet mall trademark of the Neinver group.  There are Style Outlets in Italy, Germany, Portugal and Spain and they cater for men’s and women’s fashion, kidswear and sportswear, accessories and housewares.

Castel Guelfo

The Castel Guelfo Outlet is located about 20 minutes outside of Bologna. Castel Guelfo has about 100 shops in its shopping village.  While there seems to be a distinct absence of the international luxury brand names at this outlet, they nevertheless have many fashion shops offering jeanswear, casual and fun fashions and accessible fashion for the young.   The Castel Guelfo Outlet also has some interesting shops like Motostore for the motorbike enthusiasts and North Sails and the Slam store – specialists in sailing clothing. Then there are the familiar brands like Calvin Klein Jeans, Guess, Nike and Timberland, etc.  And if you’re looking for things for the home and kitchen, Home & Cook has a big range of stylish Italian electrical appliances and accessories.

If you’re planning on spending the day at Castel Guelfo, there are cafes and a restaurant where you can take a break and re-energize.

How to Get to the Castel Guelfo Outlet

By Train/Shuttle

From Bologna Central Station there are frequent train services to Castel S. Pietro Terme (see www.fsitaliane.it).  From the Castel S.Pietro Terme Train Station you can catch the free shuttle to the Castel Guelfo outlet, a journey time of only 5 minutes.  This free shuttle is operated by the Style Outlet and it runs daily.

Departure from Castel S.Pietro Terme Train Station to Castel Guelfo Outlet:
