Deposito Bagagli – Where to Store Your Luggage for Your Short Stay in Venice:

If you are arriving in Venice with a large suitcase, one of the biggest challenge is how to get your luggage across the many of bridges that criss-cross the city. So if you’re only stopping in Venice for a brief visit, it may be worthwhile considering storing your luggage for the short period that you are going to be in the city.  This will give you the freedom to move around easily. The cost is quite reasonable for the convenience that it provides.

Luggage Storage in Venice

Fortunately for travellers, there are left luggage facilities at the three main transport hubs in Venice. You’ll see the sign Deposito Bagagli which are the luggage storage offices.

Piazzale Roma – across from the ACTV office and next to the People Mover station. This office is open from 6:00 to 21:00. The cost is €7.00 for 24 hours storage. Tel: 0415231107.

Castello – A relatively new luggage storage service in the historic centre is Venice Luggage Deposit. Unlike the other Deposito Bagagli services, Venice Luggage Deposit is privately owned by Roberto Lippolis and his two friends. Venice Luggage Deposit is within easy walking distance from Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge – see their website for directions. They are open daily from 09:30 – 19:30. Cost of storage is €6,00 for the first piece of luggage and €5,00 for each additional piece. Tel: 0414764907.

Santa Lucia Ferrovia Station – You’ll find the Deposito Bagagli near platform 1 in the station.  This office is open from 06:00 – 23:00. Cost is € 6 for the first 5 hours, then € 0.90  per hour from the 6th to 12th hours and € 0.40 per hour from the 13th hour onwards. The luggage storage rates here are a little more expensive than at Piazzale Roma and the Airport.

Venice Marco Polo Airport – The Deposito Bagagli is inside the Arrivals Hall near the post office. The storage service is available daily from 05:00 to 21:00. Cost is  €6.00 per piece of luggage for each 24 hours.  Tel:  0412605043.

The Deposito Bagagli service is operated by the Cooperativa Trasbagagli Venezia, the organization that handles all the porterage services in Venice.  If you decide to use the Left Luggage service, be sure to confirm the closing time with the office and be on time to claim your bag.  You wouldn’t want to have to leave Venice without your luggage.

Note:  Storage rates are current as of August 29, 2014.
