Bologna Festival

Bologna hosts quite a number of festivals throughout the year and one of the classical music festivals this city hosts is the Bologna Festival. Now in its 32nd edition, the Bologna Festival offers a selection of concerts that highlight the diversity of classical music in this city and the depth of the artists and ensembles.

The Festival is held at the Teatro Manzoni Auditorium on Via de Monari 1/2, a couple of blocks north from the Piazza Maggiore, Bologna’s main square.

Bologna Festival Concerts

The following are one-performance only concerts:

Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra

The Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, led by British conductor Daniel Harding perform sinfonias by Kraus and Mahler

Le Concert Lorrain, Christoph Prégardien

This evening of works by Bach will be performed by the ensemble Le Concert Lorrain and the tenor Christoph Prégardien

Bologna Festival: Isabelle Faust

Vladimir Ashkenazy will conduct Isabelle Faust and the European Union Youth Orchestra.

Zukerman & Cheng at the Bologna Festival

Pichas Zukerman (Violin) and Angela Cheng (Piano) perform music by Schumann, Franck and Brahms

Bologna Festival: Krystian Zimerman

Krystian Zimermanm (pianist) performs in the concert series “Big Interpreters”

Herbert Schuch at the Bologna Festival

Herbert Schuch comes back to the Bologna Festival with a solo piano concert of works by Schumann, Beethoven, Mozart, Lachenmann and Schubert. He was winner of the audience price in 2012.

Jordi Savall at the Bologna Festival

Jordi Savall (viola and conductor) and the Concerts des Nations perform works by Marais, Bach, Telemann and Rameau.
