BOLOGNA FESTIVAL – AN ANNUAL CLASSICAL MUSIC FESTIVAL IN BOLOGNA:
Bologna hosts quite a number of festivals throughout the year and one of the classical music festivals this city hosts is the Bologna Festival. Now in its 33rd edition, the Festival offers a selection of concerts that highlight the diversity of classical music in this city and the depth of the artists and ensembles.
The Festival is held at the Teatro Manzoni Auditorium on Via de Monari 1/2, a couple of blocks north from the Piazza Maggiore, Bologna’s main square.
Bologna Festival Concerts

World-famous pianist András Schiff performs Beethoven’s ‘Diabelli Variations’ and Piano Sonata by Franz Schubert. This one-performance only concert is on May 6, 2014.
Russian virtuoso pianist Mikhail Pletnev presents a recital of Beethoven, Schumann and Twenty-four Preludes by Alexander Scriabin.
This one-performance only concert is on May 13, 2014.
World-famous Russian pianist, Grigory Sokolov, performs an all-Chopin concert, including the 3rd Sonata and selected mazurkas.
This one-performance only concert is on May 19, 2014.
The St. Petersburg Philharmonic perform the ever popular Nutcracker Suite, the Polonaise dance from the opera Eugene Onegin and Violin Concerto.
This one-performance only concert is on June 9, 2014.
